When I was 26, I developed a chronic illness that dozens of specialists could not name or treat.
My life changed overnight.
I went from having a successful career as a Marketing Manager at an International company to being unemployed and sick as hell.
From training for my first marathon to struggling to walk across a room.
I had no idea what lay ahead.
The story of overcoming life-changing events is the reason I started The Power of Change.
If you had asked me twenty years ago how I planned to change my life and embrace living with an unknown chronic illness, I would’ve shrugged my shoulders and laughed.
Did I think I had the power to reverse an unexplainable turn of events? Absolutely not.
But today, I can tell you it’s possible.
If you find yourself in a difficult situation, there is a way through it.
The path to the other side is possible through:
perseverance
resilience
faith
an open mind
a positive mindset
support from others
It’s possible through a belief that each of us holds a power far greater than we know.
The Power to Experience Transformative Change
For years I suffered from debilitating symptoms that impacted every aspect of my daily life and left me wondering if I would survive.
After years of being dismissed by doctors because they didn’t have the answers, I realized the only way I would survive was to find the answers myself.
The answers and the key to understanding my illness and treating it would take two decades to uncover, and a twist of fate I could never imagine.
In the meantime, I had to learn to live my life.
The story of my illness is not unique. It’s one that I’ve heard thousands of times from other patients and patient advocates whom I’ve met over the past ten years.
What Makes My Story Different? I didn’t give up.
I kept fighting for answers.
I learned how to unlock the power of my intuition and trust that intuition.
I learned the power of resilience
I learned the importance of a positive mindset.
I became a medical detective. I analyzed every clue, researched every lead, and never stopped asking questions.
I ignored the doctors that dismissed me and kept searching for the ones who were curious and willing to help.
The Formula
My formula of research, analysis, and questioning, paired with mindfulness, resiliency, and a positive mindset, formed the basis of The Power of Change.
In fact, during the past two decades, my formula has been tested several times. And each time, it would prove successful.
From illness to well-being. From despair to joy. From fear to fortitude.
Life Happens. How we choose to experience the ups and downs is the difference between surviving and thriving.
I’ve done both, and I choose to thrive.
That was an excellent article with some phrases that were awesome. I'm impressed by how you keep moving forward when life gives you some setbacks.
